BOB HOLMAN
Fortune into a Bargain
He had a face
like a sieve
Her love
differed
from tumultuous
passion
as the flowers of
the field
from the splendor
of a garden bed.
How pitiless
are the laws of society!
Sure, a sunset
is a great subject
for poetry - BUT
is not one ridiculous
describing it in high‑sounding
words
before a
materially-minded audience?
