air

still cool steam from all mouths

 

turkeys & roosters crow

below

short pines

ferns moss & long-stem cactus

 

light clouds sky bright

sunshine prevails

strains

of dialect snorting

a pig

feeling

it could have been the same

one hundred two hundred five hundred

years ago

family dwellings thatch

or shaped mud

from Cortez to the CIA

survival

corn growing everywhere
