DENYSE DU ROI
Still And All
Lines for a Wedding July 2nd, 1994
The one red rose
that I mean
made its
existence felt
in the usual
way,
embodies a
singular reply
carmelized with
summer attributes.
A Cannery Row
rose
more telling in
its descriptions of the equinox
prefacing the
ministering angels
whose sanctified
church took refuge
in his form Now
that you’ve come
this far, there
are shadows still
auras
interlacing an occasion
night
revives.
So where to go,
what to be in
under a firmament
of our desire so
to be blessed & be
off again. And come to you at last
for the comedy
in it. I can see
heaths &
coasts, some phenomenon’s
unbirthing. The soul
can live
with that, with
a diamond-like
purity just
inside this window.
