BOB DROJARSKI

CARRIER 707 AND THE MORNING CRACKHEAD

they fool you once in awhile

until you see the vomit on the street

and no one's on a diet

they put on their best salvation army

shoes and shirts

their lines are getting better all the time

they see what I have on

and move past the

"brother can you spare a dime" into

"my truck broke down"

ten blocks away and I

need cab fare back to pakistan"

offering to take my address

and mail it all back to me

CARRIER 707 AND THE WOMAN IN THE ROBE

it was early on a saturday

september morning

I needed a signature on this parcel

coming somewhere from indiana

she wasn't expecting it

when she opened her back door

in a loose robe I could feel

the heat pass by

I saw her hair in tangles

pillow marks on her cheek

and took the quick glance

that any man would

she said "you caught me without my face on"

sharing what we both knew was obvious

but hell

"you're only the mailman"
