Poem Writ While Listening To “Deep Elem Blues”

 

Many thought what happened to others

Would never happen to them.

 

Many thought what happened to them

Would happen to them again.

 

Many thought what happened to them

Only happened because they made it happen.

 

Many thought nothing happened.

Many thought they had no volition.

 

When it was better than it should have been

Many thought something happened.

 

Many thought it should keep on happening

And it never happened again.
