Hello, I’m Jim Cohn &
I Don’t Endorse Or Unendorse This Poem I’ve
been running my whole life But not from or toward anything. Supported
by action parties I don’t even know, Let
me bring you up to speed––we know nothing. The
downturn in the economy reminds me of the limitless sky. You
cannot too cautiously examine arguments And
excuses brought forward by those Whose
interest or convenience is dependent on Keeping
others in a state of depravity. Equal
in every way to me, beggars with their handwritten signs Hire
out for nothing, walk through the edge of themselves As if born with fatal errors. Things
have not changed much. Society’s
greatest accomplishment remains its pretensions. Which
of its extravagant proclamations has it made good–– The
oft-repeated crimes, the sufferings never told? 12 March 2008 [Published in Mantra Winds: Poems 2004-2010. © 2010 by Jim
